BIO

Dr. Shaowei Li holds a joint appointment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the University of California, San Diego. He received his B.S. from Nankai University in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Irvine in 2017. In 2018, he joined LBNL as a Heising-Simons Junior Fellow in a joint position with UC Berkeley, and transitioned to a joint faculty appointment in late 2020. Dr. Li’s research investigates the fundamental properties of low-dimensional systems—including single molecules and layered materials—using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy. His group integrates STM with optical spectroscopy to study light-matter interactions at the atomic scale.
