BIO
Jens Osterhoff is a Deputy Director of the BELLA Center at Berkeley Lab. He is an expert in laser- and beam-driven plasma accelerators, their applications, and in high-intensity laser-matter interaction. Before joining LBNL as a Senior Scientist in 2024, he was a Lead Scientist at DESY and Professor at Hamburg University. He received his PhD in 2009 from LMU Munich under the supervision of Nobel Laureate Ferenc Krausz, and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004.
