BIO

Andy Nonaka is a Staff Scientist and Group Lead of the Center for Computational Sciences and Engineering at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His expertise lies in HPC implementations of multiphysics and multiscale algorithms for PDEs using structured adaptive mesh, particle/mesh, and machine learning algorithms.  Recent applications of interest include micro/nanoscale transport in materials and fluids, next-generation microelectronics, quantum chip design, and general fluid dynamical applications.  He is also Co-Chair of the SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE27), to be held in Pittsburgh, PA in February 2027, and Co-Chair of LBL's Computing Sciences Area Summer Program.
