BIO

Paolo Ferracin is a Senior Scientist in the Accelerator Technology & Applied Physics Division. He earned a Ph.D in Energetics at the Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy in 2002. As a LBNL PostDoc and Research Scientist, from 2002 to 2011, he worked on the development of Nb3Sn dipole and quadrupole magnets. He then joined CERN where he led the development of MQXFB, the Nb3Sn quadrupole magnet for the HL-LHC project and the CERN activities of the Nb3Sn dipole magnet FRESCA2. Since 2020, he is the Program Deputy of the Superconducting Magnet Program at LBNL.
