BIO
Marcos Longo is a research scientist in the Division of Numerical Modelling of the Earth System of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and an affiliate at the Climate and Ecosystem Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Marcos’ main research interest is to understand the impacts of climate and land use change on tropical forest ecosystems. His current research focuses on integrating remote sensing, field measurements, and process-based terrestrial biosphere models to quantify the impacts of both human (logging, fires) and natural disturbances (droughts) on productivity, evapotranspiration, and energy fluxes of tropical and temperate forests. He is also interested in improving the representation of structural and functional diversity of forests in terrestrial biosphere models. He collaborates with DOE’s Next Generation Ecosystem Experiments – Tropics (NGEE-Tropics) project and the GEDI science team.
